Been selling a LOT of these duck call barrels we make with Echo Open Water single reeds(and a few with the Echo Timber double reed). {Note: I'm still trying to get the 'tweaks' worked out using my 'new-to-me' P2 jig} I have been getting a lot of requests for matching goose calls.
Question: Where does one find a decent goose jig? I've done some searching on the interwebs.....most searches show a 'goose jig', but when you try to find them on the website...nada(everything is duck)?
Was at Echo yesterday, talking and such.... Asked about there goose calls and received some great info and some 'samples'. Seems a goose call insert sticks out of the body of the call more.....
Question: Should it? I mean it just looks unnatural. Does it change the tone of the call by drilling the step further into the body to 'shove' the guts in further?
Scott (more questions....sorry) B

I do not make my own goose guts. I use some from Shell Creek, echo, webfoot. Even had a customer send me an assortment of guts from buck gardner. Had another customer request a set of $20 broken in guts from another call company.
You will need to drill out your barrel to allow the guts to sit inside. ITs no harder than anything else we do. I start with a 7/8" drill deep enough for the tenon on the insert to fit then 3/4" for the guts to sit in and then 5/8" the rest of the way. You can buy the whole insert from echo just like your duck calls. Or you can make your insert and put the goose guts in it.
