If you're gonna make a first something, make it worth showing off.....but then hide it for at least a year to see if there is any improvement.(so I have done just that, I hope?)
Echo insert and band(just as easy to order and have everything show up in one box). Blank was poured by the wife was she was making pen blanks for the website.
So, not sure if this is a 'good start' or a 'bad ending', but it sounds like a duck if I remember to exhale from the chest not the cheeks. What say the experts?

No one is going to believe they are your first calls. They look great to me.

Thanks!!!
After making pens and bottle stoppers for so long, I guess attention to detail sort of helps. The turning and finishing of acrylic is the same, only the shape is different. Think the hardest part is shining up the inside of the barrel to a nice shine...5/8" is far too small for my fat fingers.
Them bands....yeah, what a pain in the backside those thing are. I made a tenon to put them on for sanding, this is the result of going to 800grit....what more can be done to get the sanding lines out? I guess I could purchase some 1000 and 1500 grit, but the camera would probably still see it.
Blurry photo's isn't really an option for me....I'm somewhat anal about photography(I've been playing with photography for 40yrs now...WOW, that long, now I feel kind of old). If I could turn as well as I can take photo's....I'd be rich(or poor?)!

I sand my bands to 2000 then use some polish to get the rest of the lines out. A buffing system works wonders. Buff with Tripoli then white diamond then finish it off with carnuba wax. They will have a mirror like finish. The bands will turn your buffing pads black so if you use it on wood you will need another set up just for bands. I have three sets of buffing wheels. Two I made with cheap buffing wheels from Home Depot. I recently got the beall buffing system.

I wrap sandpaper on a wooden dowel to get on the inside and the same if I want to run a little wax in there to darken it up or whatever.

Guess it wasn't too bad? The multi-colored call above sold for $50.00, and considering I'm labeled as a "barrel stuffer" in certain places.....HEHEHE, all the way to more bits-n-pieces. So I made three more! Close-ups of a few? Sure! Thanks for the tips on the bands guys! Guess I'll have to look for that set of buffing wheels I bought and did something with.... After seeing the first pic of the three calls together I was gonna comment about you hiding the bands. Lol But then I saw the close ups. Good job on stuffing those barrels.
