Got an email from an editor at wildfowl magazine asking for some of my whistle calls. Here are the whistles I put together over the last two weekends. I made up a few sets of pintail and woodie calls. I am thinking about sending two sets to the editor that is doing the piece on whistles. I'm just not sure which two yet. Two cocobolo sets stabilized and dyed buckeye burl texas pecan (Thanks Robert A) Hedge pintail (thanks Robert A) All of them together

Nice calls. Never made one of those before. I'm gonna have to look em up and see what they consist of.

Not much to them John. The woodie calls (Shorter calls) have a JC reed in them. Not sure of the number but it is the hawk reed. Just plug and play. The pintail call has a wedge in the front end to direct the air toward the first hole just like a flute. It is basically a small woodwind instrument.

Yeah ok. I'd still need to see a picture of the flute with the wedge cause I'm slow. LOL. I have a few of the hawk reeds left with the double sleeve. I was never sure if I had to remove a sleeve to use it as anything other than a hawk screamer.

I don't do anything to the reeds. The newer reeds come with a green sleeve and the older ones have a clear sleeve. I think the green ones sound better. Not a lot of difference but enough I can hear it.
