I just made my first squirell call and I think I made my barrel way too short. its about 1.5 or so plus the tennon for the bellow. It kinda sounds like a squirell but it also kinda sounds like a monkey. I guess i'm gonna try a longer barrel and see what happens.

A longer barrel will help. In the meantime try using your thumb on the bellow instead of tapping it and you can get a pretty good sound.

thats what i'm gonna try tommorow. I have enough squirells in my yard maybe I can get one to react. If they take off hiding, that isn't the right sound.

I thought I'd add I haven't made a squirrel call yet that sounded good until the reed has been bladed. The reed just sounds too squeaky if you don't blade it. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I agree, blading is the trick to a true sound
