i been trying to make a coon call and i just can't get it to sound like a darn coon. i'm using the rubber sleeves and the right reed it just doesn't sound right to me and ideas.

What reed are you using and did you blade it. How long is the call and how deep do you have the reed set into the call?

the reed is the lvdr 002 and the call is about 3 inchs and i got the reed about half way

i bladed the top reed but it just don't sound like a coon to me

It sounds like you're doing everything rght. Try blowing less air through it. If you're getting on to it like a distress call that could be the problem.

Try this, Use a peice of tubing and slide the reed and holder towards the mouth pece end so that the tip of the reed is about 1/2 into the call. ALSO, make sure the rubber insert is not over the reed at all. The little bit of give and take in the rubber can dampen the reed and make it not sound right. ONLY took me 14 hours of tryig to tune one before I figured that out.
