Bands?

I was wondering...
#1: How do you install your bands? (I turned my blanks until I had to fight to get the band on kind of tight, and then made two 'grooves' under where the band would eventually sit for CA thick glue)
#2: Do all bands come looking like a dull turd? (I had to 'snug fit' them on a piece of turning stock to sand them with 800 grit, and the insides had some huge nasty burrs-like they were pipe wrenched cut)
#3: Is there an easier way then what I did above to do either?
#4: (last one-for now) Does anyone know whom can laser-engrave bands per 100, for something less then a arm or a leg?
Your input would be most welcome!

some bands come pretty much done, others just need a little buffing. I don't use them. I usually use antler or some wood that will accent the call. I never sent anything to laser but I assume if you google it you will probably find hundreds of places to send them.

Scott, all bands from echo come roughed up. I like to cut my own bands. Get a piece of pipe from a home improvement store or hardware store. Online metals is another place to order from. (I've never used them though) I've cut bands out of aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless. My method is to cut the band off and clean up one edge. Scratch up the inside and cut glue grooves on your tenon on the call. Make it a tight fit. I use only JB weld to hold on my bands. Press the band on the call and let the JB weld set up. Once it has dried I turn and sand the call and band all at once. While sanding the heat can break the bond if you let it get too hot. Also the dust can bleed over onto lighter colored woods.

Thanks...was hoping the 'grooves' were going in the right direction.
John, by using antler...um I don't even know what sort of questions to ask. I'll need to go looking for a few photo's....then questions.
